Tennis Instruction – Learn the right grip for the tennis serve – Tennis Tip

The most common challenge is faced by the player who serves a hard flat first serve for years with a Western or near Western grip. It might be powerful, but this players second serve is inevitably a sitter, begging to be crushed. To compete at higher levels, this player must learn a spin second serve. The Continental grip is well accepted as the requirement to spin a serve effectively. This clip offers some tips on adding the Continental grip to your arsenal. Just remember that whatever quick fix you try, be sure to hit only 5 to 10 balls and then switch to holding the racquet normally, while trying to maintain the correct grip and feel you experienced with the aid. The progression is to just alternate back and forth as needed. Make no mistake about it, changing old habits it not easy. But, if youre patient and diligent with this method, the foundation for change and confidence can be established in minutes, not hours. And, a genuine feel for the shot can be obtained in hours and not months. www.oncourtoffcourt.com
